Creativity is part of the human spirit, psyche, soul. An essential part of our human DNA.

As part of my undertaking in better understanding the creative process, I interviewed many creatives across disciplines. I gathered that creative processes can be categorized in three ways with varying purposes:

  1. Creative Expression – as a personal outlet

  2. Creative Discipline - as a practice, repeatable process

  3. Creative Audience – as an end application, generating a feedback loop with some other person(s)

I also took away design principles that emerged to enable creativiy to flourish across practices:

  • Inspiration,

  • Imagination

  • Freedom

  • Focus

You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
